A minister spoke to a couple about believing the gospel of Christ. The woman replied, "I've heard it all my life, but I just can't believe." The minister asked, "Do you know why you can't believe?" She indicated that she really didn't know. Then, the minister said, "No one can believe the gospel until they repent. That means your mind is changed about the gospel of Christ. You become willing to accept the gospel, knowing that Jesus died for your sins. You believe that He is risen from the dead."
The word repent simply means to change your mind. The Holy Spirit convinces you to turn to God. When you are willing to turn from unbelief, the Holy Spirit enables you to believe in Christ. God is gracious to grant you repentance. God's goodness enables you to repent.
Do you believe the gospel of Christ? If you believe the gospel, thank God for His goodness that led you to repentance. If you believe the gospel, share it with others. Pray that God's goodness will lead them to repentance.
