Be Encouraged

A man was discouraged. He lost his job suddenly. He was worried and didn't know which way to turn. One day he was waiting for his car to be serviced. He happened to see a man that he knew in college. They had not seen each other in many years. As they continued to talk, he shared with his former classmate that he had recently lost his job. His friend said, "I'm the chief executive officer of a corporation here in town. We could use an experienced, well-trained man like you." That's exactly what happened. He had a new job just a few days later. He excitedly shared the good news with his wife, saying, "That is so unreal for me to see my friend that day after so many years. I know God was in it."

God's providence works for good in the lives of all God's children. God delights to give encouragement to His people. In your darkest night of discouragement, your heavenly Father will give you needed encouragement. It may come through a promise from Scripture. He may use the words of a song or hymn. He may send someone to encourage you at just the right time.

When you go through a transition or a tough time in life, look for God's encouragement. Times can get hard. Discouragement may come. Through it all, God is always working for your good as His child. He plans ahead for every event in your life His good purpose to fulfill.

Ask God to use you to encourage others. He will. Then you can say, "I may be encouraged together with you by the mutual faith both of you and me" (Romans 1:12). You may give someone an honest compliment. You may write a note of encouragement to someone going through tough times. You could call someone to share your care in a time of need. Be encouraged to encourage others.
