You Are Invited

God has an invitation for you, "he is the one who invited you into this wonderful friendship with his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord" (1 Corinthians 1:9, NLT). That invitation comes personally to you through the Bible. God wants you to know his Son as your friend. You are invited.

Friends talk together often. Every believer knows the invitation to talk with Jesus in prayer. We don't approach him as a distant deity. We talk to him as our wonderful friend. He also talks to us. We don't hear him with our ears. He speaks to our hearts. As we read his words in the Bible, he has much to say to  us. He reminds us with words we have read in the Bible. He speaks to us as his friend.

Friends spend time together. Knowing Jesus as a wonderful friend means he never leaves us. He is with us always. He lives in our hearts through the Holy Spirit. He is our constant companion. The friendship is so wonderful, that he knows our thoughts, and he shares his thoughts with us. He is the closest friend you could ever have.

I heard these words in a song: "Friends are friends forever." Jesus is the forever friend of every believer. Not even death can separate you from this friend. He is more than a lifetime friend. He really is your forever friend. It's true, because God wants you to have a wonderful friendship with his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.
