Come to the River

There is a river that moves with power day after day. Its sound brings peace to all who hear. People come to the river to get away from all the problems and worries of life. There they find solace and peace. The river is always there for those who want to come. There is something about being at the river that you can experience, but not explain. Things are different after coming to the river.

Come to the river. It offers water that sustains life. Without its water, death ensues. Water satisfies your thirst, a desire that must be met. You were made to drink the water, the living water of life. "And let him who thirsts come. Whoever desires, let him take the water of life freely" (Revelation 22:17).

Come to the river. In the river, you can move with the flow of power. You simply yield to the flow. The current of peace will support you, as you flow in the right direction. You give up your struggle and surrender to the gentle flow.  God says, "Behold, I will extend peace . . . like a river . . . like a flowing stream" (Isaiah 66:12).

Come to the river and wash away the stains of life. The river can make you clean. Anyone may come. No one is turned away. What the river can do for one, the river can do for all. The river is never a respecter of persons. All may come. Everyone can go away clean. Say to God, "Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin" (Psalm 51:2).
