Thanksgiving Has a Home

Thanksgiving has a home. It's not a house nor a church house. It's the home of a grateful heart. Ingratitude is a sin against God. He has given us life and all things freely. You have nothing that did not come from the gracious hand of God. To think any other way is the heart of a person made hard by self-deception. God is good, and He has been good to all.

Thanksgiving has a home in the heart of a person changed by the grace of God. The hardened heart, callous through the habits of sin, finds no place for giving thanks to God. On the contrary, the grateful heart is a work of the Spirit of God's grace, giving God all the glory for the blessings of life.

Thanksgiving has a home in the heart of every person who has received the grace of forgiveness and new life in Jesus Christ. It is a heart filled with love, joy, and peace. There you will find a heart where the Spirit of Christ lives. It is a heart that gladly gives thanksgiving to God, now and always. "Enter His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise" (Psalm 100:4).

Thanksgiving has a home in the heart of a person who can never be satisfied without expressing thanks to God, with lips of praise in prayer and song. The voice of thanksgiving comes from the heart, praising God from whom all blessings flow. "Be thankful to Him and bless His name. For the LORD is good" (Psalm 100:4-5).
