Where Is Forever?

Forever is a word that must be defined. It is certainly not in this life, because this life is not forever. It is not defined by this world, because it is constantly changing. That's not forever. Forever can only be defined in God. He alone is forever.

Forever is God's Word. When God speaks, His Word is forever. Forever is the Word of God's everlasting covenant. His oath and promise is that His Word to all His children changes not. What He said, He will do. What He promised, He will fulfill. What His Word prophesied shall come to pass. Faith can rest secure upon the forever Word of the living God. "But the word of our God stands forever" (Isaiah 40:8).

Forever is God's Son. He was put to death at the cross. Three days later, He was raised from the dead with life forever. Eternal life is His gift to all who believe. His love for believers is forever. His kingdom is forever. "Of the increase of His government and peace there shall be no end" (Isaiah 9:7).

Forever is God's Spirit. The Holy Spirit bonds every believer with union and communion with Jesus our Lord forever. Nothing can separate believers from the love of the Spirit forever. The new life Jesus gives to believers, through the Holy Spirit, is forever. Jesus said, "I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish" (John 11:28).
