Trust In Christ

The Christian life is not trusting in yourself to do the right thing; it's trusting in Christ to do what you cannot do for yourself. It's trusting Christ to change your life. It's trusting Christ to enable you to do the right thing. It's not about you, but Christ in you. That's the Christian life; it's "Christ in you the hope of glory" (Colossians 1:27).

Are you really trusting in Christ? How is it possible for anyone to trust Christ? "In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation" (Ephesians 1:13). Trusting Christ is faith in Him based upon the gospel. It is your salvation in Christ. That word salvation means deliverance. Christ delivers you from the condemnation, guilt, and shame of your sins. He delivers you from all the powers of darkness in your life.

Salvation or deliverance in Christ means that He does for you what you could never do for yourself. Someone may say, "I would become a Christian, but I just can't live it." No you can't. No one can. That's the very reason that we must trust Christ to do for us what we cannot do for ourselves.

You may ask, how can I get Christ to do for me what I cannot do for myself? Only trust Him. Trusting is relying upon Christ, and Christ alone. For He alone can change you, "that we who first trusted in Christ should be to the praise of His glory" (Ephesians 1:12).
