The Source of Faith

Faith is necessary to please God. The prayer of faith receives from God. Those who walk with God, walk by faith. Oh, the importance of faith is found again and again in the Bible. Faith understands the way of God. Faith obeys God. Yet, having said all this, faith is not the greatest thing, but love is!

Faith never travels alone. Faith is the constant companion with love. Seek faith and it will not come. Seek love and faith arises every time. The reason is simple. "God is love" (1 John 4:8). God is the source of all faith. He is the focus of all faith. When you seek God, you have found faith. Love is the source of your faith.

Faith must come from your heart. But, that will never happen until your heart is filled with the love of God. "The love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us" (Romans 5:5). When love fills your heart, so does faith. They are inseparable abiding gifts of the Spirit of God. "And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love" (1 Corinthians 13:13).

How does God's love come to us? It comes through the good news of Jesus Christ. In Christ crucified, you see God's unconditional love. Love's crowning deed is at the cross of Jesus. "But God demonstrates His own love for us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8). God's eternal love for you is revealed in Christ crucified. Looking unto Jesus on the cross is to behold love divine that brings faith with confidence. "Looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith" (Hebrews 12:2). There is the source of your faith.
