"If you ask anything in My name, I will do it."John 14:14
A woman said to her friend, "I just don't feel worthy to pray and ask God for anything." Her friend replied, "I don't either. That's the reason I ask in Jesus name. He alone is worthy." Jesus gave a wonderful promise to believers, that He would respond to any prayer request in His name. Using the name of Jesus in prayer is not some kind of a magical incantation, far from it. It honors the position of Christ as our Mediator with the Father. He is the only Mediator between God and man. "For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus" (1 Timothy 2:5).
To ask in Jesus name is to ask in His authority. After His resurrection, He said, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth" (Matthew 28:18). That authority is used to bring glory to God. Jesus said, "And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son" (John 14:13). The believer may ask anything in Jesus name, as long as it brings glory to the Father through the Son. Anything that does not bring glory to God misses the mark of prayer. It's called sin. "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:23).
As believers in Jesus Christ, we should be at liberty to ask anything and everything that would glorify the Father in Christ. When we do so, we are praying according to the will of God. As we consider our prayer list of requests, we should ask the same question of each one. Will this bring glory to God through Christ? If the answer is yes, then we can ask in faith, in the name of Jesus. As we do, remember His words, "I will do it." Ask in Jesus name.

Father, we make our requests known to You in prayer. We believe that our requests will bring glory to You in Jesus name. Amen.
