to Him until that Day."
2 Timothy 1:12
They had been dating for years. Finally, he said to her, "I love you and I want to continue to date you, but I don't want to get married." Her heart was crushed. She knew what that meant. He was unwilling to be committed to her. She knew that he really wasn't serious about her. It wasn't easy, but she finally told him that she couldn't date him anymore. To love a person is to be committed to that person.
The apostle Paul committed his life to Jesus Christ. A genuine relationship with Christ is like a marriage (Ephesians 5:25). It is a lifetime commitment "until that Day." More than that, it is an eternal relationship, because nothing can separate the believer from the love of Christ, not even death (Romans 8:39). It is a commitment of doing God's will through Christ, serving Him in love.
The mother said to a friend about her daughter, "She's found a keeper." That is to say, she found the love of her life. She was ready to get married. She wanted to keep him. A bride and groom make a public commitment through vows at a wedding.
When we commit our lives to Christ, we become a keeper. "He is able to keep" what we commit to Him. Jesus saves and keeps those committed to Him. His vow to you is "I am with you always" (Matthew 28:20).

Lord Jesus, we commit our lives to You. Keep us in Your love forever.
