"My enemies reproach me,
while they say to me all day long,
'Where is your God?"
'Where is your God?"
Psalm 42:10
A man tried to be a witness for the Lord on his job, in the way he lived, as well as what he said. It wasn't easy. The unbelievers often asked him questions about his faith, not because they wanted answers, but because they wanted to prove his faith wrong. One day the man's son was involved in a life-threatening accident. In the man's absence from work, one of the unbelievers said to the others, "Where is his God now?" The cynic seemed to get some cruel satisfaction out of the situation.
When one of the other workers reported the comments to the man, he said, "My God was in the same place He was when His Son suffered and died on the cross." The man's son recovered, and they never questioned his faith again. Two people who worked with him became believers through his witness.
The psalmist had enemies that didn't believe in God. During a time of oppression, his faith was severely tested. They said, "Where is your God?" At his low point, he chose to "hope in God. For I shall yet praise Him" (Psalm 42:11). His faith had passed the test.
Those who trust God are never promised a carefree life without problems. Some who don't believe may even delight in a believer's adversity. However, no matter what comes our way, the believer knows where God is. He is with us always.
We praise You God for being with us always.
