"As for God, His way is perfect."
Psalm 18:30
A man sat down to talk with a pastor. He said, "I need your help. My life is a mess and I'm miserable. For a long time my life has been characterized by one of my favorite songs, "I Did It My Way." Now, I'm feeling the pain of doing life my way. I'm ready for a new way. I want to know about God's way, because my way is not working." The pastor responded, "I can tell you God's way in my life. I discovered God's way through reading the Bible and coming to know Jesus Christ. God's way is simple and clear. God is love and His way is the way of love. He loves us and He wants us to love Him and everyone else." That very day the man committed his life to God's way.
As we read the Bible, we read many commandments, but they are really summarized in one word, that's love. The two greatest commandments are to love God and love others. Jesus taught that the whole law of God hinges on these two commandments. Yet, we find it absolutely impossible to love God and others as we should until the Spirit of God pours out love into our hearts (Romans 5:5). This is the truth that we must not miss!
What God commands us to do, He enables us to do, as He works in us through the Holy Spirit. All who have trusted Christ have been indwelt by the Spirit of Christ (Romans 8:9). God works in us to fulfill His will (Hebrews 13:20-21). All of our efforts to love God and others with unconditional love are destined to fall short, unless the Spirit of God is working through us.
Have you found God's way for your life? Let us confess our unloving attitudes, words, and deeds for what they are, that is sin which is falling short of God's will. After we trust Jesus Christ as our Lord, we have God's gift of love working within us (1 Cor. 13:13). Then, we have a daily choice to yield to God's way or our way. When we yield to God's way, His way becomes our way. Finding God's way is finding love.
Father, we yield to the Spirit of Your love working through us.
