A Confident Person

Would you call yourself a confident person? Self-confidence is risky. One person can say or do something to you to take it away. Then, you could go through life without confidence. Also, the uncertain circumstances of life could quickly dismiss all confidence. That makes you vulnerable to other people and uncertain circumstances.

How then can you be a confident person? The word confident literally means "with faith." Confidence depends upon who or what is the focus of your faith. If it's in yourself or other people, then you will always be vulnerable.

Faith in God means your confidence is in one who can always help you. Faith in God gives a confidence which triumphs over fear. Faith in God is trusting the one who made you and loves you. He is the one who gave his Son for you.

Confidence in God comes through trusting his word of promise. It means your faith is in the only one whose word never changes, and his promises are eternal. Self-confidence is like building a sand castle. One wave can wipe it away. To the contrary, faith in God stands upon the solid rock of his word. It changes not. "So we can confidently say, 'The Lord is my helper. I will not fear; what can man do to me?" - Hebrews 13:6, ESV.
