Fear Is Your Enemy

Coronavirus has been described as our unseen enemy, and so it is. We are seeing the work of that enemy through sickness and death. No one doubts the threat of coronavirus, even though it is indeed an unseen enemy. Be aware that there is another unseen enemy which travels with coronavirus. That enemy is fear.

It is prudent in days like these to take precautions. You know them. Wash your hands. Don't gather in groups at a close distance. Wear a mask where needed. Don't shake hands. Most of us have practiced these cautions. However, I would like to add one more. Refuse to live in fear. "Coronavirus: Facts Not Fear" is a sign that makes sense. We need the facts for the safety of our health. We don't need fear.

Understand that fear is an unseen enemy that can spread faster than coronavirus. Unlike the virus, fear can be spread on what we see, hear, and read in the media. Fear can be spread in conversation. It spreads with words, thoughts and images.

"For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind" (2 Timothy 1:7). It's not the will of God for us to live tormented by fear. The power of God's love gives us a sound mind. Pull down fearful thoughts in prayer, asking God to deliver you from them. Focus your attention on God's love. Believe in God's power to overcome fear in your life.
