The Bondage of Fear

The bondage of fear may enslave people. The chains of fear are not seen by others, but the chains are real in the hearts of those who are bound. The chains are hidden, but the slave knows full well that they are there. Fear controls his thoughts, emotions, and will. He knows it everyday and everywhere. His slavery is bondage to fear.

It is not God's will for people to live under fear's dominion. "So you should not be like cowering, fearful slaves. You should behave instead like God's very own children, adopted into his family, calling him Father, dear Father" (Romans 8:15, NLT). Fear tries to control your relationship with everyone. The way out is a new relationship with God as your Father. By faith in Jesus Christ, God adopts you into His family. Knowing God as your Father means you can break free from fear.

God our Father wants none of His children to live under bondage to fear. The Father's love overcomes all of our fears. Love refuses to allow His children to cower under fear. "Such love has no fear because perfect love expels all fear" (1 John 4:18). God's love breaks the chains of fear. Ask God to fill you with his love.

Should fear attack, God is always there. Agree with God and His will for you to be free from fear. Your Father rules over all, and that includes fear. Refuse the lies of fear. Believe the truth of your Father's love. You're not a slave. You are God's child. God's love breaks the bondage of fear.
