Death has reigned over all people everywhere in every age. Death will not be denied. Death has had its way with all mankind. Death has reigned supreme with the rich and poor, wise and foolish, without exception. For the wages of sin is death (Romans 6:23).
The fear of death is a cruel taskmaster. The tormenting fear of death holds multitudes in bondage. The rational man says, Let us eat, drink, and be merry, until we die. He confesses that death is coming to all, so get what you can out of life until that day comes. Death simply will not be denied. The fear of death seeks to enslave the minds of men.
Death reigned, that is until one Sunday morning. That was the day death died. The earth quaked, rolling a stone away from the door of a tomb. Death was defeated by divine power. The tomb was empty. Death was defeated by the same Creator who made man in the beginning. Omnipotence could not be denied. He lives! Christ the Lord is risen!
Jesus Christ is risen! He is risen indeed! Death is defeated, because of God's power. How we thank God, who gives us the victory over sin and death through Jesus Christ our Lord (1 Corinthians 15:57, NLT). That's victory over death.
