Trust in the Lord with all your heart (Proverbs 3:5). When you trust God, you discover that He is trustworthy. You cannot have a meaningful relationship with anyone without trust. That includes God. Learning to trust God more and more is the way to spiritual maturity. How is that accomplished? Pray for grace to work in your heart, that you may trust God more.
Learning to trust is a basic developmental task in life. A baby must trust another person for every need to be met. The infant cries out to the mother for help. It is the cry of the helpless one. If a person doesn't develop that trust with mother, it affects all the relationships of life, including the relationship with God.
Trust grows over the years from your experiences with God. The Lord makes promises for all who trust in Him. More and more, you discover that each one of God's promises recorded in the Bible are trustworthy. He says to you, I will never leave you nor forsake you (Hebrews 13:5).
When you are in circumstances which are trying and difficult, God is not punishing you. He is there for you to trust Him more. During the ordeal, you may be very uncomfortable and anxious, but as you trust in the Lord, you discover His faithfulness. You find Him trustworthy through it all. When you are in a difficult situation, God says, My grace is sufficient for you, for my strength is made perfect in weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9). Pray for grace to trust God more.
