Give God Your Burdens

A burden may be defined as a heavy load of care, causing you to feel helpless and depressed. Burdens are a common part of life. Prayer offers a way to let your burdens go to God. He may not change your circumstances immediately, but God will sustain you. Cast your burden on the Lord, and He will sustain you (Psalm 55:22).

Be willing to give God your burdens. You may be helpless, but God is not. The load of care may be too much for you, but never too much for Him. The words of an old song say: "Take your burden to the Lord and leave it there." That's just what you do in prayer, as you admit your weakness. His strength replaces your weakness.

What are your burdens? More importantly, what will you do with them? If you hold on to them, the load becomes heavier, and the depression can almost become unbearable. Your strength diminishes oh so fast, as you cling to the burdens of life. Frustration gives way only to more despair.

There is a better way. Give God your burdens. You no longer cling to them, when you cast them upon the Lord. God's grace will sustain you. God says to you, My grace is sufficient for you, for my strength is made perfect in weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9). He is your strength in weakness.
