When You Know God

Knowing God in a personal relationship is like being married. This analogy is used in both the Old and New Testaments. God's love pursues you. Then you trust the Lord and commit your life to Him by faith. You enter into a covenant relationship with God.

When you take the LORD at His word, your relationship with Him is based upon the covenant promises in the Bible. He is the LORD your God. You are part of His people. He becomes your Savior, provider, protector, and your all in all.

Like the ring in marriage, baptism becomes your public confession of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. God has promised to fulfill His covenant in your heart, working in you that which is well-pleasing in His sight. Your covenant guarantee is the death and resurrection of Christ.

"Now may the God of peace
who brought up our Lord Jesus from the dead,
that great Shepherd of the sheep,
through the blood of the everlasting covenant,
make you complete in every good work to do His will,
working in you what is pleasing in His sight,
through Jesus Christ,
to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen."

Hebrews 13:20-21
