Jesus is Lord

"Confess that Jesus Christ is Lord
to the glory of God the Father."

Philippians 2:11

A teenager said to a pastor, "I saw a sign at another church with the words: 'Jesus is Lord.' I really didn't know what that means." The pastor said, "The primary meaning in the New Testament of those words is that Jesus is risen from the dead." Then he read the words from the Bible, Romans 10:9: "If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved." That very day the young man committed his life to Jesus Christ. He confessed, "Jesus is Lord."

To believe on the Lord Jesus Christ is to be saved (Acts 16:30-31). The word saved means to be delivered. The believer in Jesus our Lord is delivered from sin, death, judgment and condemnation. There is no condemnation for the person who believes on the Lord Jesus (Romans 8:1). The confession of our personal faith in the One who died for our sins and was raised from the dead is "Jesus is Lord."

Confessing Jesus as Lord brings glory or honor to God our Father. He sent His Son into this world to suffer and die on the cross for sinners. God proved His love for sinners through the death of His Son. He showed His mercy and grace for  sinners who believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. When we confess from our heart and with our mouth "Jesus Christ is Lord," we bring glory to God's love, mercy and grace.

Prayer: Father, to Your glory we confess, "Jesus is Lord."
