Wiping Away the Tears

"And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes."

Revelation 7:17

A little girl came running into the house, crying and screaming, "It hurts mommy. It hurts." She had fallen and skinned her knee. It was bleeding. Her mother immediately found a clothe to wipe away the blood, then she applied some medication and a band-aid. "It still hurts," the little girl cried. Her mother embraced her in the arms of love. Her daughter finally quit crying. Mother took her hand and wiped away the tears, and kissed her on the cheek. The little girl said, "Mommy, I'm so glad that I can run to you when it hurts." Every child of God has a heavenly Father to run to, when it hurts, and there are many hurts in this world.

In the book of Revelation, John saw a scene in heaven. God's people had suffered much. Many became martyrs for their faith in Christ. The saints are gathered around the throne of God. John sees God wiping away every tear from their eyes. An expression of loving care is witnessed to those who had suffered so much. God never guaranteed His people that they would not have to suffer in this world. God's people have always faced persecution, suffering and hardship, but there is God wiping away every tear from their eyes.

Can you think of a hard and difficult time in your life? Can you remember your tears? God cares about you. He knows your tears. He feels your hurt. He wants to wipe away every tear from your eyes, embracing you in His everlasting arms of love. Remember, you have someone to run to, when it hurts and the tears fall. Take it to the Lord in prayer. Share your hurts and broken heart with Him. His love will bring comfort and peace. He knows how to wipe away the tears.

Prayer: Father, You see our tears. You know our heart-aches. Wipe away the tears with comfort from the Holy Spirit, through Christ our loving Lord. Amen.
