Jesus said, "I am with you always, even to the end of the world."
Matthew 28:20
David Livingston was a missionary for sixteen years in Africa. During that time, his faith was severely tested through sickness and hardship. Upon returning to England, he spoke to a group of students saying, "Shall I tell you what sustained me during the hardship and loneliness? It was Christ's promise, 'I am with you always, even to the end of the world." He took the promise of Christ by faith. It is a promise for all believers.
Life is filled with uncertain days. The Lord never promised that we would not be tried and tested. No believer is exempt from hardship nor difficult days. Yet, we are sustained by the sure promise of Jesus Christ. He is with us, and don't forget the word always. We may easily believe that He is with us when things are carefree and comfortable. However, the promise is sure through all the experiences of life. He is with us on the mountain, as well as in the valley. He is with us in sickness and in health. He is with us through the good days and the bad. Always is the key word.
A man who wasn't a believer, said to his Christian wife, "I don't understand your faith. You believe that God is with you. How can you know that for sure?" She smiled and said, "You're right. I know that the Lord is with me always. He promised, and He doesn't lie. I take Him at His word." The man was not satisfied. He replied, "But how do you know that He's really with you? You can't see Him." She responded, "Faith is the evidence of things not seen. If I could see Him, I wouldn't need faith." Christ lives in the believer through the Holy Spirit (Romans 8:9). That means Christ is with us now.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, we believe Your promise to be with us always. You walk with us through every day. You are always there for us. Lord, thank You for Your faithful presence.
