Clean from All Sin

"The blood of Jesus Christ His Son
cleanses us from all sin."

1 John 1:7

A boy asked his dad, "Why is it that I feel bad when I do something wrong?" His dad said, "That's just the way God made us. It's called conscience." The boy replied, "That's a new word for me, but I knew the meaning of it before I ever heard that word." So have we. Dad was right. God made all of us that way. When we do something wrong, our conscience bothers us.

A man came to his pastor to confess a sin that he had committed 25 years ago. The man said, "For all these years it has bothered me, but I would push it out of mind. It's embarrassing for me to admit my sin to you. I hope that you will never tell anyone, but I had to tell someone. Can you help me?" Quickly, the pastor said, "I sure can. Christ died for all of our sins. When we confess our sins to God, He forgives all our sins (1 John 1:9). The pastor read verses from the Bible showing that God cleanses us upon confession of our sins. When the man got ready to leave, he said, "I feel clean inside." He was clean before God through the cross of Christ.

Why do people refuse to confess their sins to God in prayer, to receive cleansing through the blood of Christ? There could only be two reasons. First, they don't know the good news in Christ. Secondly, they don't really believe the good news. The believer's confession of sin brings immediate cleansing through Christ. We can have a clean conscience today.
Father, we confess that we have sinned. We believe that the blood of Jesus Christ cleanses us from all sin. Amen.
