"You also, as living stones,
are being built up a spiritual house."
1 Peter 2:5
Living stones are believers who fit into a spiritual house who are the people of God. It is a comparison of the temple to the church. As every stone fit into the temple, so every believer fits with the people of God. Each stone gives and receives support from the others. Life was not designed to live alone. All of us need the support of others. This is certainly true in the Christian life. We are members one with another in the body of Christ.
Where do you fit? Where do you find your support from others? It should be from family and friends, as well as in a church family. Where we fit is where others need us. It's the same place where we receive support. An orphan has no family and needs the support of others. Without knowing where we fit in life, we may all become spiritual orphans. Where we fit is where we give and receive from others. We discover the place where we really belong. We know the people whom we can count on to give support. They are the same people who look to us for support.
God has a way of placing us where we fit. He has a special place for all of us. The circumstances of life direct us to the place where we fit. The hands of a craftsman place stones where they fit into a building. The hands of God place us as living stones where He made us to fit. If you haven't discovered where you fit in life and among the people of God, ask the Lord to place you according to His will.
Father, we are living stones in Your house. Place us where You designed us to fit, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
