"Before they call, I will answer; and while they are speaking, I will hear."
Isaiah 65:24
A church member called her pastor to request that he pray about a problem that she had. He said that he would be glad to pray for her, then he asked how she had prayed about it. She replied, "Oh, I haven't prayed about it. I feel so unworthy to pray, and besides, I really don't have enough faith." We often feel unworthy that God should hear and answer our prayers.
We may even believe that God would rather hear someone else pray for us. The truth is that we have all sinned and are unworthy. The good news is that God forgives our sins through Christ (1 John 1:7-9). That's one reason that we pray in Jesus name.
Many of us believe God may not answer our prayer, because we lack enough faith. God does want us to come to Him by faith. Understand that faith is a gift from God. It comes from His Word (Romans 10:17). Base your prayers on the promises of the Scripture. Your faith level will have a solid foundation.
We may not know how God answers prayer. He answers in an unlimited variety of ways. He may answer through a Scripture, a thought, conscience, a heart-felt desire, circumstances, another person, a sermon or ways too many to mention. Simply believe that He will answer and He will. Read Isaiah 65:24 again.
God, we know by faith that You hear our prayers.
