"But when he came to himself, he said, 'How many of my father's hired servants have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger!"
Luke 15:17
A man owned his business. He was prosperous. However, he turned his life away from God. He developed an addiction to prescription drugs, and became increasingly irresponsible. His business hit a financial crisis. He lost his wealth and health. He later said, "It was the best thing that ever happened to me, because once again I saw my need for God." His life was turned around because of his financial crisis.
The prodigal son in Luke 15 took his inheritance, left his father's house, and wasted all that he had. It was during his financial crisis that he saw his need to return to the father. He was restored. His life was changed. The crisis precipitated the change. Often, we are unwilling to change our lives until a crisis occurs. What seems to be so bad could be the best thing that happened to us. God has a way of taking our failures and showing us His goodness in restoring our lives.
I hope you are not living in a crisis, but if you are, it's time to turn to the Father who loves you and cares about you. Do you have a particular problem that bothers you? Ask yourself this question, "What is God teaching me through this situation?"
Blaming our problems on others gets us nowhere. In all of our problems, what are we learning about ourselves? Then, there's the big question. Who cares about me and wants to help me? Your Father in heaven is the answer. Turn to Him for help. He will not turn you away.
God, we need Your help today. We receive Your help in Jesus name.
