"He leads me in the paths of righteousness for His name's sake."
Psalm 23:3
A father bought his son an electric train for his birthday. The six year-old boy was thrilled. Day after day, he wanted his dad to join him, as they played with the model train. One day the man thought, my life is like that electric train. I'm just going around in circles with no real direction in life. He was a good husband and father, as well as a successful business man, but he was simply going around in circles. He shared his thoughts with a friend. That friend said, "God is showing you that he has more for you in life. He wants to lead you in the right direction."
The friend invited him to a men's Bible study that met once a week. He accepted the invitation. Through the Bible study and fellowship with other believers, he found a meaningful relationship with God through Christ. He was taught how God leads us in our daily lives.
God desires to lead all believers through a personal relationship with the LORD as our Shepherd. He leads us through the wisdom of the Holy Spirit in the Bible (James 1:5). Also, He leads us through the providential circumstances of our lives (Romans 8:28). The Spirit of God leads us through the gift of faith (Romans 14:23), and the fruit of peace (Colossians 3:15). Understanding how God leads every believer is made clear in the Bible.
Do you need direction for your life? It's available through a faith relationship with God. The Shepherd is ready to give you clear direction, by the word of truth, through the Spirit of truth. If you are willing to follow, He will make the way clear for you. "Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your paths" (Proverbs 3:5-6).
LORD, lead me in the right path.
