The grandfather clock sat in the same place in that house for decades. It had not kept time for many years. It had no purpose other than being a valuable antique, as well as a reminder of the past. Life can turn that way for us. We may remember the past, but we no longer seem to have a purpose. The truth is, we can become an antique of the past.
Why doesn't someone restore that old clock? It may need some new parts. Someone should be able to restore it. Let it ring out the news of a new hour once again. So it is with our lives. When our lives are without purpose, there is someone who can restore us. God our Maker knows just how to do that. He made us for a purpose. He certainly knows how to restore that purpose in our lives. He knows what needs to be replaced in our hearts to bring us back to our God-given purpose.
A clock that is restored can change with the times. The hands keep on moving to discern the new hour. So it is in our lives. We are to keep moving through the new times of life. There are seasons in our lives designed by God. We can't move back to the past. Enjoy the present hour. See God's purpose for you in every season.
Do you know the love and joy of fulfilling God's purpose in your life? Is there something in your past which brought you a sense of fulfillment? Have you ever felt like God had a calling on your life to help others? Don't just remember those days of the past. Ask God to restore you to the destiny and purpose which He intended for you. He can do it. He will do it. Then, you can be restored to the purpose for your life.
Father, thank You for the times and seasons in our lives. Give us grace to move forward.
