"Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed,
for I am your God . . . Yes, I will help you . . ."
Isaiah 41:10
A baby cries in a dark room during the middle of the night. A light comes on in the room. A familiar voice of the parent speaks. The infant is lifted up with the loving arms of a mother. In a short time the crying stops. No matter what the need, that infant needs to know that someone is there to help.
As we grow older, the believer always needs to know that our heavenly Father is there to help. He responds to our cries and hears our prayers. He lifts us up with the everlasting arms of love. He will never leave us nor forsake us, because we are His children. He is forever our Father.
The promise of God is for all of His children. "Yes, I will help you." No matter the nature of the problem, great or small, the answer remains the same. The strength of prayer is the "Yes" of God. If our thought is, maybe He will and maybe He won't, our prayer life is unstable at best. When we choose to believe the "Yes" of God, faith rises in answered prayer. What good parent would refuse to help a fearful child in need? Not one. Should we not believe that our Father in heaven is a good parent? The answer is given in Isaiah 41:10, and it is certain. It is "Yes."
Do you have a fear today? If so, there is a sure cure for you as a child of God. It is one simple word from God - "Yes". Fear loses its grip over our minds and hearts in the face of the One who always says "Yes." He will help us. He is there for us now and forever. You need not pray, "O God, please help me." He has already promised to do so. This is our prayer, "Father, we will not fear, because You have said 'Yes' to our need for help. Thank You for helping us always."
God, we believe Your promise. We ask for Your help.
