Christ Living in You

"It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me."

Galatians 2:20

A young couple were expecting their first child. She was about a month away from giving birth to a new life. She felt the baby moving and said to her husband, "Put your hand on my stomach." He did and said, "I can feel the baby moving. It feels so wonderful to know that you have another life moving in you, our own child." They smiled, and he kissed her. The new life was inside her. That illustrates the Christian life. When we receive Jesus Christ by faith, we have new life within us, the life of Christ. The apostle Paul wrote, "Christ lives in me."

How does Christ live within the believer? He lives within us through the Holy Spirit, also known as the Spirit of Christ (Romans 8:9). His presence is experienced through faith, hope and love, the three abiding gifts of the Holy Spirit (1 Cor. 13:13). Faith is born within our hearts to trust Christ as our living Lord and Savior (1 Cor. 12:3). Hope is given to us to trust Him with our future. Love is experienced within us, God's everlasting, unconditional love.

Have you experienced Christ within your life? He moves in us through faith, hope and love. A living faith is the assurance of things not seen. "For we walk by faith, not by sight" (2 Cor. 5:7). We have a hope that the world didn't give us, and the world can't take it away. We experience love that brings peace and joy, knowing that the Holy Spirit has filled our hearts with the love of Christ (Romans 5:5). Christ is living in us.

Father, give us assurance that Christ lives in us.
