"Do not be afraid."
Matthew 28:10
A senior adult lady who lived alone, returned to her house in the dark of night. When she got ready to unlock her front door, she heard a man talking in her house. She was afraid and started to quietly back away. Then, she heard a commercial on her television and realized that she forgot to turn it off, when she left the house earlier. She felt silly for being afraid of the television voice. She laughed at herself, as she unlocked the door. That illustrates the power of fear on our minds.
Jesus appeared to the women at his tomb, after He was risen from the dead. He said to them, "Do not be afraid. Go and tell my brethren to go to Galilee, and there they shall see Me." Had the women ran away in fear, they would have missed being the first witnesses to the risen Lord. Jesus was wise enough to address their fear, before He gave them their assignment. Their purpose was fulfilled, because they first dismissed their fear.
God has given each believer an assignment in life to serve Him. We know what it is through the Bible, and what God has put in our hearts. Sad but true, we may fail to fulfill our purpose because of fear. A friend of mine was called to preach as a young man. He told no one. He was afraid. Much later in his life, he was able to conquer fear and fulfill his destiny. Not everyone is called to preach, but every believer is called to serve God. Don't be afraid.
Father, cast out our fear through Your love.
