"Casting all your care upon Him,
for He cares for you."
1 Peter 5:7
A teenage girl came home with bad news. She was stopped by a police officer for speeding. He wrote her a citation for more than a hundred dollars. She said to her mother in tears, "I thought God cared about me. Why would He let me get a speeding ticket?" Her mother said, "He does care about you. That's probably the reason you got a speeding ticket. Otherwise, you could have easily had a wreck going that fast. God probably cared enough about you to keep you from killing yourself." They both came to tears and embraced each other. Sometime bad things do happen to us. Often, we bring them on ourselves. However, through all of our trouble, God cares about us.
An effective prayer life is based on the assurance that God really cares about us. He cares about every detail of our lives. No issue in our lives is too insignificant to God. As mothers and fathers care about everything in their children's lives, so God cares about each detail in our lives. Therefore, we can cast all our care upon God in prayer.
Do you have a problem today that annoys you? Have you prayed about it? Do you believe God cares about it? You may say, "Oh, I wouldn't pray about that. It's really not that important to God." Everything in your life is important to God. His providential watch-care includes all things in our lives. Remember our verse for today says, "Casting ALL your care upon Him." God cares for you, because He loves you.
God, we cast all our cares upon You, knowing You care for us.
