Ask in Prayer

"Ask, and it shall be given you;
seek, and you will find."

Matthew 7:7

A little girl said to her mother, "I'm afraid to ask God for anything, because He may say no." The mother said, "Honey, you're not afraid to ask me for anything, and I sometime say no because I love you. I wouldn't give you anything that's not good for you, and that's why I sometime say no. That's the only reason God would say no to you." Oh, the wisdom of a mother. She explained it so lovingly. Sometime God does say no to His children. He's working all things together for our good. His "no" is a loving no for our good.

The Bible teaches us to ask according to God's will. His will is good, acceptable and perfect (Romans 12:2). "Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us" (1 John 5:14). Praying in the will of God gives us confidence and faith that God is hearing and will respond to our prayers. When we pray the promises of God according to the Bible, we have God's yes to our prayers. "For all the promises of God in Him (Christ) are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us" (2 Corinthians 1:20).

Praying the Bible promises of God through Christ is asking and receiving. When we ask God according to His word of promise, we are asking according to the will of God. We can rest assured with confidence of God's Yes and Amen in Christ. The Bible is our prayer Book. It is inspired of the Holy Spirit. The promises are sure through Christ. Our confidence and faith is real when we ask God. He hears and answers, because we ask according to His will.

God, we ask that Your will be done in our lives.
