Jesus said, "I am the resurrection and the life,
He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live."
John 11:25
Two college students were talking about the Christian faith. One said, "I don't see how any intelligent person could believe in life after death." The other one answered, "I don't have any trouble believing in life after death. Why should I think it strange that the One who gave us life could do it again?"
The promise of Jesus Christ is to all who believe. Resurrection life is everlasting life. It is the promise of the One who is the Resurrection. God is eternal. His life is shared with us through His Son, proven at an empty tomb. Eternal life is fellowship or communion with God and His Son forever (John 17:3).

Faith receives the gift of eternal life. "The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 6:23). Faith is taking Christ at His word. He either spoke the truth or He didn't. He either has the power to give us new life or He doesn't. He is either the Resurrection and the life or a false prophet. The line between faith and unbelief is clearly drawn.
A skeptical old man said to a young Christian, "If God was going to give us life after death, why doesn't He prove it?" The young man said, "He has, three days after Jesus died. The question is, will you believe Him?" That's the question for all of us. There are only two options, to take Him at His word, believing that He is the Resurrection, or accusing Him of not telling the truth. Life defeats death in Christ alone.
Father, by faith in Christ, we receive the gift of life.
