"Because what may be known of God is manifest in them,
for God has shown it to them."
Romans 1:19
A high school student entered a classroom to be surprised, discovering that the teacher was giving everyone a test. He approached the teacher and said, "I'm not prepared. I didn't know that we were having a test." She said, "That is no excuse. I have told this class that there would be a test every Friday." The truth is this, she had told the class, but he was passing notes in the back of the room.
God has spoken to all people everywhere, and we are without excuse. He speaks to all through creation and conscience (Romans 1:20; 2:15). Scripture says, "So they are without excuse" (Romans 1:20). Creation tells us there is a Creator. Conscience tells us that we have done wrong.
Faith brings us into a relationship with God's mercy and grace. We can only know God because He has made Himself known. The unseen God has revealed Himself to all people through the things which are made. He created us and all that surrounds us. He may be known within our conscience as we see our need for mercy. He is known by faith. "By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God" (Hebrews 11:3).
How can we find the faith to know God? It is both God's requirement (Hebrews 11:6), as well as God's gift (1 Cor. 13:13). He enables us to come to Him by faith. This faith is confidence and trust in God, and in His Son Jesus Christ. God may be known, only because He has made Himself known in creation, conscience and Scripture. He has revealed Himself fully in the person of Christ (Hebrews 1:1-3). Faith receives what God has made known of Himself. Faith knows God.
Thank You God for revealing Yourself to us.
