Your Sins Blotted Out

"I, even I, am He who blots out your transgressions
for My own sake, and I will not remember your sins."

Isaiah 43:25

After Charles Wesley experienced God forgiving all of his sins, he said to a friend, "I suppose I had better keep silent about it." His friend replied, "Oh, no, my brother. If you had a thousand tongues, you should go and use them all for Jesus." Those remarks became the seed thought of a hymn Charles Wesley wrote, "O For a Thousand Tongues to Sing." That has been my favorite hymn for many years.

Isaiah preached to God's people who turned away from the LORD. They broke His law and transgressed His commandments. They faced the judgment of the Babylonian captivity, as prisoners taken to a foreign land. But, they were allowed to return unto the LORD. He blotted out the record of their sins. He said, "I will not remember your sins." That's the grace of God. He had mercy upon His people.

Are you sure that your sins are blotted out? Through faith alone in Christ alone is the sure path to this blessed assurance. Jesus Christ shed His blood for sinners at the cross (1 John 1:7; 2:2). Faith in Jesus Christ brings peace that all of our sins are forgiven.

We can sing the song of Wesley, as believers in Jesus Christ who died for our sins. Charles Wesley included these words in his hymn, "He breaks the power of canceled sin. He sets the prisoner free. His blood can make the foulest clean. His blood availed for me." In Christ, your sins are blotted out!

God, blot out all of our sins through Jesus Christ.
