or whatever you do,
do all to the glory of God."
1 Corinthians 10:31
A college student had an important decision to make. He wanted to do the will of God. He asked his pastor, "It seems so hard to really know God's will for my life. How can I know for sure?" His pastor said, "God wants us to know His will. He reveals His will in the Bible and through Christ. We can know God's will for sure by doing what brings glory to His name."
The apostle Paul made it clear that no matter what we are doing, it should always be to the glory of God. Any motivation that does not include the glory of God misses the mark of God's will. As a matter of fact, missing the mark in that way is described as sin. "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:23).
The will of God is the glory of God. It's really not hard to know, but at times it may be hard for us to do. It applies to every area of life, even eating and drinking.

Are you trying to discern God's will in your life concerning a certain matter? Don't make it hard to know. Ask yourself three questions: (1) What does the Bible teach? (2) What would Jesus do? (3) Would my decision bring glory to God? If we honestly answer those three questions, knowing God's will should not be difficult.
The most important question is this: Do we really want to do God's will?

Father, give us grace to do all things for Your glory.
