Jesus used an analogy of flowing rivers describing symbolically the work of the Holy Spirit in each believer. The flow of water cleanses. So the Holy Spirit applies the cleansing of Christ from all of your sins. The flow of the river provides life for you to drink. Christ satisfies your thirst as a believer unto life everlasting. It is life in the Spirit of the risen Christ. Also, the flow of the river provides power. Your power to live the Christian life is through the Holy Spirit.
The flow of the Spirit of Christ within you is like the flow of blood from the heart throughout the body. Your physical body is totally dependent upon blood continuing to flow freely. Your spiritual life is totally dependent upon the power of the Holy Spirit flowing within you.
