Don't Be Afraid

It's easy for someone to say to you, "Don't be afraid." It's another thing to tell someone how to stop being afraid. Understand that fear is a choice. Your will is involved.

Yet, you still must know how to overcome fear. It's a choice between fear and faith. It is faith in God with you always. Faith says to God, "I will not be afraid, for you are close beside me" (Psalm 23:4, NLT).

Faith is sure that God is always there. Faith understands that God is everywhere and all the time. Faith does not need to feel God's presence all the time. Faith does not need a physical presence. "That is why we live by believing and not by seeing" (2 Corinthians 5:7, NLT). Faith is living your life in the presence of God, knowing that He is there for you.

Fear rejects faith in God's presence. Fear says, "God is not here. I cannot see Him." Fear is provoked with thoughts of worry and a vivid imagination of everything that can go wrong. Faith understands that things can go wrong, but God is always there to help. Fear lives life as though God is not here. Faith is willing to trust God to be there always.

Don't be afraid. Believe God is with you. Talk to Him all along the way. When you need His help, ask Him. He is there for you. Don't focus on fear. Focus on God. Tell God when you are afraid. Then, praise Him that He is with you always. Don't be afraid to trust God.
