Slaves to Fear

Fear has the power to make a slave of people. The chains of this slavery are not seen by others, but the chains are real in the hearts of those who are bound. The chains are hidden, but the slave knows full well that they are there. Fear controls his thoughts, emotions, and will. He knows it everyday and everywhere. His slavery is hidden but real.

It is not God's will for people to live under slavery to fear. "So you should not be like cowering, fearful slaves. You should behave instead like God's very own children, adopted into his family - calling him Father, dear Father" (Romans 8:15, NLT). Fear effects your relationship with everyone. The way out is a new relationship with God as your Father. By faith in Jesus Christ, God adopts you into His family. You know Him as your Father.

God our Father wants none of His children to live as slaves, and that includes slavery to fear. The Father's love overcomes all of our fears. Love refuses to allow His children to cower under fear. "Such love has no fear because perfect love expels all fear" (1 John 4:18). God's children are free from the bondage of fear.

Should fear attack any child of God, his Father is always there. Agree with God and His will for you to be free from all fear. Your Father rules over all, and that includes fear. Refuse the lies of fear. Believe the truth of your Father's love. You're not a slave. You are God's child.
