No one is exempt from sorrow in this life. In the midst of happy days, sorrow can strike suddenly. Sorrow may come without warning. It is never a welcomed guest. Days of sorrow can be overwhelming. When sorrow comes, hope must be found.
Hope is a friend that can sustain you during days of sorrow. Hope looks beyond the present sorrow. It focuses upon a better day. Hope gives strength to get through sorrow. True hope is found only in God. He is our hope, steadfast and sure. Hope sustains your faith. Hope leads us to love. "And now abide faith, hope, and love, these three; but the greatest of these is love" (1 Corinthians 13:13). When sorrow comes, faith and hope point you to God's love.
Hope is the gift of God's presence in your life. You cannot know God, without knowing hope. You can find hope in God, because He is your future. You can believe that future is good, because God is good. Hope is trustworthy, because God is faithful. When sorrow comes, focus on hope in God.
Hope is eternal, because God is eternal. He offers you eternal life through His Son. Christ the Lord is risen from the dead. Eternal life is God's gift to you in Christ. Hope in God through Christ is known in the Bible as the blessed hope.
