What Is Faith?

Faith does not trust in itself. Faith is able to trust in the One who is always and forever faithful. Faith that never fails will trust always in the living God, who is faithful to all who believe. When we focus on our faith, it never becomes stronger. When we focus upon God, faith will rest in His faithfulness. Jesus said, "Have faith in God" (Mark 11:22).

Because God is faithful, His word of promise cannot fail. Look at the promises of God in the Bible. As a believer, all the promises of God are for you. "For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us" (2 Corinthians 1:20). You can trust God's promises, because He is faithful. "He who promised is faithful" (Hebrews 10:23). Faith that never fails, stands upon the promises of God.

Make sure your faith is based upon God's faithfulness. God is faithful to all of His promises to perform them. Faith believes that all of God's promises are absolutely sure, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Faith stands upon the solid rock of God's promises that cannot fail.

Read the Bible to discover God's promises for you. Pray the promises of God back to Him. Make sure that your faith is focused not upon yourself, but focused upon God and His everlasting promises. Faith is the ability to rest secure upon the faithfulness of God's promises.
