Understand the Truth

People who live the lie don't understand the truth. They resist and resent the truth. They may even get angry when they hear the truth. People who live the lie have much company. Their views and opinions are usually that of the majority. Living the lie makes them feel good about themselves. The world accepts them. The crowd approves them. But they will "perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth" (2 Thessalonians 2:10).

Those who live the lie are blind to the truth. The eyes of their hearts have not been open. They are content to live in the darkness of the lie, because they want no light of truth. Jesus said, "Men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil" (John 3:19). All of us have lived the lie in the past, but grace, only God's grace, can open our hearts to the light of truth.

How do we understand the truth? Only God's goodness can lead us to the truth. The Spirit of grace enables us to see the truth. Light shines in our hearts through the grace of God. We see the truth. His name is Jesus. By faith we see the truth of Jesus. He said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life" (John 14:6).

Those who taste the truth desire to be filled with truth. We thirst to understand more truth. We feed on the word of truth in the Bible. We walk in the light of truth. We know the joy of truth, because it made us free from bondage to the lie. Jesus said, "The truth shall make you free" (John 8:32).
