At the judgment throne of God, do you want justice or mercy? If you are without sin, you should demand justice. However, no one is without sin. For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23). Therefore, our plea is for mercy. God's mercy is offered to you.
Mercy triumphs over judgment only in God's Son. As believers in Jesus Christ, he took our judgment at the cross. That's the good news. At Christmas, we celebrate the birth of Jesus, who came into this world to bring God's mercy.
God's judgment was placed upon Jesus at the cross for our sins. In our place, Jesus was judged for our sins. Justice was served, that God could be both just and merciful. Justice was fully paid for our sins, that God could show mercy to sinners like you and me.
God is both just and merciful, that He might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus (Romans 3:26). God's mercy for you is found in Christ at the cross. Mercy there was great, that is great enough to forgive all your sins. God raised His Son from the dead to deliver us from judgment. God's mercy to you is received by faith in Jesus Christ.
