When doubt comes your way, don't be surprised. No believer is exempt from doubt. We live in an age of doubt and unbelief. Media may be used to bombard believers with every form of doubt. Most often, however, doubt comes from experiences in life, which causes us to question our faith. The question is not if doubt will come. The question is how will we respond to doubt.
Doubt comes in different ways. Doubt comes to rob you of assurance in salvation through faith in Jesus Christ. Doubt comes to question the reliability of Scripture. Doubt comes to your prayer life. In every area of your faith, doubt may come. Doubt is a subtle form of temptation. It tempts you to doubt God.
All doubt can be defeated without fail. Look to the Spirit of God to guide you into all truth. Truth dispels doubt. The Holy Spirit defeats doubt on every hand. False faith falls in the face of doubt. True faith abides, because it is a gift of God's Spirit.
And now abide faith, hope, love, these three (1 Corinthians 13:13). The Holy Spirit bears witness to the truth in your heart. When He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth (John 16:13). When doubts come, receive the truth of God in your Bible, inspired by the Holy Spirit. He is the Spirit of truth who defeats doubt.
