What about Your Faith?

"So then faith comes by hearing,
and hearing by the word of God."

  Romans 10:17

What about your faith? That's an important question, because your faith is your bond with God. Your prayers are made known to God by faith. The assurance of your salvation is by faith. Your knowledge of God comes by faith. Asking about your faith is asking about your relationship with God.

What about the source of your faith? Faith is not something you can produce. It comes as a gift from God. The Holy Spirit brings the gift of faith to the heart of every believer. Jesus Christ must be the author of your faith. Real faith comes from God. It is received through the promises of God's written word in your Bible.

What is the focus of your faith? God is not only the source of your faith, but He is likewise the focus of your faith. Our faith is in God as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Faith is never in yourself. It is not self-confidence. To the contrary, it is confidence in God's promises and ability. It is trusting God who is forever trustworthy.

What is the strength of your faith? Faith may be strong or weak. God gives you faith through His word, by His Spirit, in His Son. However, you must develop your faith. It becomes stronger as you feed upon the word through Bible study. Also, your faith becomes stronger as you exercise it by doing the word. Faith comes by hearing the word of God.
