Love Defeats Fear

Fear is a fierce enemy, causing you to worry, withdraw, and often give up. The power of fear is great enough to defeat you. However, there is one sure way to defeat fear. That is love. You have no fear that God's love cannot defeat. "Our fears for today, our worries about tomorrow, and even the powers of hell can't keep God's love away" (Romans 8:38, NLT).

Victims of fear surrender in defeat. Fear is able to attack you with doubt and discouragement. It becomes easy to give in to such a vicious foe. Yet, God's love in you is the sure way to defeat your fears. Love conquers fear. "No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us" (Romans 8:37, NLT).

When the Bible teaches Christ loved us, it's in the past tense. That doesn't mean that he does not love us in the present tense. He loves us forever! However, the past tense points to his cross, where he died, proving his love for us once and for all. Love defeated death three days later, when Jesus was raised from the dead.

The love of God in your life can defeat every fear. The Holy Spirit makes God's love real to all who believe in Jesus. "For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love" (Romans 5:5, NLT).
