Knowing God

You may believe that there is a supreme being and not really know God. You may even be very religious and not know God. You could even say words in prayer and fail to know God. Others may conclude that there is a God somewhere in this world, but no one can really know Him. However, you can know God in a personal relationship.

Trust knows God. Knowing God is a personal relationship through trust. All relationships are built upon trust, and that includes your relationship with God. Trust is your bond with God. "Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD" (Jeremiah 17:7). The blessing of knowing God is always received through trusting Him. God's blessing is for all who trust Him.

Trust stands confidently on the promises of God found in the Bible. Trust takes God at His word. There are thousands of promises in the Bible. All of those promises are for those who trust God. Unbelief thinks those promises are not trustworthy. Doubt is never completely sure of the promises. Trust refuses to doubt and wants no part of unbelief.

Trust knows God is dependable, even when understanding is absent. "Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding" (Proverbs 3:5). Often, we don't understand the ways of God. Our understanding is limited. Trust relies upon God, when understanding cannot be found. Knowing God is trusting Him always, with or without understanding.
