Be a Peacemaker

"Therefore let us pursue the things which make for peace
and the things by which one may edify another."

Romans 14:19

Their office at work had changed dramatically, and not for better, after a new employee was hired. That  employee seemed to cause confusion and conflict on a daily basis. Finally, the supervisor called the employee to his office. He said, "Listen, everyone got along fine around here until I hired you. This confusion and conflict must stop. You have a choice. You can become a peacemaker and stay here, or you can look for employment elsewhere." From that day forward the employee's attitude changed remarkably. Peace returned.

God has given all of His children the role of a peacemaker. The opposite role is a troublemaker. That assignment never comes from God. One troublemaker can change the atmosphere in a business, family, neighborhood, or church. Most people are drawn to peacemakers, because they edify or build up others. It's in the job description for all of God's children to be peacemakers. Jesus said, "Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God" (Matthew 5:9).

Are you a peacemaker? If so, you are a real blessing to people in your family, community, business, and church. You are pleasing God and doing His will. People need you, because everyone needs to be edified, rather than constantly criticized. You are of great value to those around you, and most of all to the kingdom of God.

Prayer: Father, use us as peacemakers every where we go. Use us to edify others in Jesus name. Amen.
