the kingdom of God as a little child
will by no means enter it."
Mark 10:15
A man shared his personal testimony at a Christian men's gathering. He said, "God got my attention through my five year-old daughter. One Sunday morning, she simply asked me, 'Daddy, why don't we go to church like other people?' That question would not go away. For days I could hear her in my mind asking the same question. The next Sunday we were in church and have been ever since then. However, I still was not really a Christian. A couple of years later, she asked, 'Daddy, I love Jesus. Why can't I be baptized?' That question would not go away. I committed my life to Christ. My daughter and I were baptized on the same Sunday. God used a little child to teach me."
Jesus used a child as an example of those entering the kingdom of God. Children are tender-hearted. They easily trust God and believe His Son. They say simple prayers straight from the heart. They love Jesus and they know He loves them. No wonder Jesus said we must receive the kingdom of God as a little child. Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of God" (Mark 10:14).
God's ways are past finding out (Romans 11:33). His thoughts are higher than our thoughts as the heavens are from the earth (Isaiah 55:8-9). God does not require us to understand all of the mysteries of life. We need not try to explain the secret things of God. Our minds are so limited before God who knows all things, the end from the beginning. God does expect us to trust Him, you could even say like a little child. Children teach us about God.
Prayer: Father, may we trust You as a child, that we may receive the kingdom through Jesus Christ. Amen.
